
Daniel Lapp
Daniel Lapp is a multi-instrumentalist and educator from Prince George, B.C., known for his deep roots in old-time fiddle music and his genre-spanning career. A UVic music grad, he has toured globally and performed with artists like Spirit of the West, Jim Cuddy, Elvis Costello, and Broken Social Scene.
He founded the BC Fiddle Orchestra in 1994, which has nurtured top Canadian fiddlers including Kendel Carson and Tania Elizabeth, and launched the Victoria Fiddle Society and House of Music Society to support music education and community outreach. He leads the Joy of Life Choir and Folkestra, and produces large student concerts twice a year.
Daniel played in the 2010 Olympic Opening Ceremonies and has recorded extensively across folk, jazz, and electronic music. His decades-long effort to document B.C. fiddle tunes earned him the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal and a Canadian Folk Music Award for Innovation.
