Scalawag is the project of Vancouver-based, queer singer-songwriter and producer Teo Saefkow. Blending the northern folk festival sounds of their childhood with brooding lyricism and poetic storytelling, Scalawag creates music that’s both deeply intimate and rhythmically engaging. A multi-instrumentalist (trumpet, saxophone, guitar, and more), their sound has been described as a mix of Hozier, Lucy Dacus, and a young Leonard Cohen. With a background rooted in small-town Smithers, B.C., and a growing catalog of solo work, Scalawag is known for crafting songs that feel both nostalgic and strikingly fresh.
