Shady Island Seafood Bar & Grill

Shady Island Seafood Bar & Grill

The history of Shady Island Seafood Bar & Grill is closely connected to the development of Steveston Landing. In the late 1980s, a team responded to a call for proposals to revitalize a section of Steveston’s waterfront. Their development plan was accepted in 1990, and the area was officially named “Steveston Landing.” The project included three anchor restaurants and 12 commercial storefronts, and has been operating successfully for nearly 30 years. Shady Island Seafood Bar & Grill is considered the flagship restaurant of the Landing.

While Steveston Landing remains privately owned, the boardwalk was dedicated to the people of Richmond. It was designed to offer public access along the waterfront — a place to stroll, take in the view, visit local businesses, and purchase fresh seafood directly from the government fishing floats, now known as Fisherman’s Wharf.
