ShowHub: Five Months of Live Music
When we first launched ShowHub at the end of January this year, it wasn’t with a big splash or press release. It was with a question: why is it still so hard to find out what’s happening in Vancouver’s live music scene?
Despite dozens of venues, hundreds of artists, and a steady calendar of events, it often felt like you had to know someone — or know exactly where to look — to find a decent show. Algorithms weren’t helping. Social media missed a lot. Local media kept pushing the “no fun city” narrative and asking if all the venues were gone. Meanwhile, some of the best gigs were happening quietly, off the radar.
So we built ShowHub.
We started with a simple goal: make it easier for people to find live music, and easier for artists and venues to be seen. We focused on accessibility, clarity, accuracy, and keeping things up to date. No puzzles. No broken pages or glitchy features. No outdated shows from three years ago. No listings including bands that broke up in 2013. And no ads. Just trustworthy, curated information — managed by people who actually care about the scene.
In our first five months, we’ve listed more than 2,400 shows across 100+ venues, created over 700 artist profiles, and worked with venue owners and festival organizers to bring more visibility to live music throughout the region — from intimate house concerts to city-wide summer series.
And we’re just getting started.
This new section is where we’ll go deeper — with artist spotlights, reviews, behind-the-scenes updates, and ongoing thoughts about where local music is headed. It’s all part of our commitment to not just list shows, but support the people who make them happen.
Thanks for being part of the community. We’re excited to see where this goes.
