Dawson gravitated towards music through a combination of unwavering curiosity and free rein of his aunt’s iTunes library filled with classic rock and bootlegs. After years of obsessing over Beatles songs, and moving to Boston to give Berklee College of Music a try—only to drop out—he decided to make Vancouver, Canada home. There, he has flourished, combining his appreciation for Canadian stars, like Shania Twain and Neil Young, with his love of experimental artists like Arthur Russel and Grouper.
