J.D. Miner is a Canadian acoustic duo featuring songwriter Darryl Klassen and multi-instrumentalist Chad Joiner. Their music blends original songs with a rootsy mix of Old Time banjo and fiddle tunes, obscure covers, and influences drawn from artists like J.J. Cale and Doc Watson.

Originally formed by Klassen and Joel Klingler, the project evolved when Klassen and Joiner connected through a musical theatre production. Since then, J.D. Miner has remained a dynamic collaboration, occasionally joined by a rotating cast of local musicians brought in through friendship, shared stages, and serendipity.

Whether performing as a duo or expanding to a fuller sound, J.D. Miner delivers warm, acoustic sets grounded in tradition and carried by rich musicianship and storytelling.

They play original songs about boats, trains, coffee, (and some women too), old cowboys, and plenty of old time foot stomping instrumentals.  A stage full of instruments. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll tap your toes,  ….and that’s just the first song.
