Jennipher Shillings
Jennipher Shillings is a multidisciplinary artist whose creative work spans music, graphic design, and architecture. Born to Kenyan parents in eSwatini and primarily raised in Vancouver, Canada, she brings a third-culture perspective to her artistry. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Nina Simone, Kirk Franklin, Adele, and Paul Simon, Jennipher blends these influences with her African heritage to create a genre-defying sound that feels both rooted and contemporary.
Grounded in folk traditions and shaped by African musical history, Jennipher’s performances are lyrically focused and rich in melody and storytelling. An intentional and introspective songwriter, she creates music that is emotionally resonant and deeply human. Through her work, she aims to honour the legacy of African music while building meaningful connections that transcend cultural and geographic boundaries.
