Matchbox Bluze

Matchbox Bluze is an electric and eclectic band that is, without a doubt, steeped deeply and ‘souly’, in the Blues.

The Matchbox repertoire includes songs and stylings from the Chicago Blues to the Mississippi Delta, and from rough and tumble Texas Blues to West Coast Swing, performed in an impromptu, off-the-cuff fashion, somewhat reminiscent of the blusier side of early, mid-sixties ‘Grateful Dead’.

On any given night, you’re certain to hear songs by Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Otis Rush, Howlin’ Wolf, Albert Collins, and all 3 Kings (B.B., Freddy, & Albert), as well as Blues Standards from recordings by John Hammond, Eric Clapton, Paul Butterfield, and Willie Dixon, to name a few. But no matter how you slice it, like Buddy Guy once said… if you don’t like the Blues, you’re in the wrong damn place!
