Michael Burnyeat is a versatile Vancouver-based fiddler and multi-instrumentalist known for his skillful playing in Celtic, folk, and country styles. A two-time BC Fiddle Champion and multi-year finalist at the Canadian Grandmasters, he’s performed at major folk festivals, opened for artists like Sarah McLachlan and Sharon Shannon, and recorded three solo albums, including A Sense of Tradition, named one of Folkworld’s best folk albums of the year.

Michael is a sought-after accompanist, music instructor, and studio engineer, with credits ranging from folk albums to film projects. He co-founded the Open Door Fiddlers youth group and the UBC Fiddle Club, and regularly performs with acts including the Pat Chessell Band, Irish Wakers, and in duo collaborations with Konstantin Bozhinov, Brian Holmes, and Brian Robertson. When he’s not performing, Michael hosts jam sessions, teaches, and shares fiddle tutorials through his YouTube channel.
