Murray Porter

Artist Website

Murray Porter is a Mohawk blues artist from Six Nations of the Grand River Territory, now based in North Vancouver. A self-taught singer, songwriter, and piano player, he blends blues, country, and humour to share Indigenous perspectives through music. Over a 30-year career, he’s performed internationally and earned comparisons to Dr. John and Joe Cocker. His 2011 album Songs Lived & Life Played won the 2012 JUNO Award for Aboriginal Album of the Year. Porter has shared the stage with legends like B.B. King and Etta James, and cites hearing B.B. King as the moment that sparked his love for the blues.
