Sarah Orton is a multidisciplinary artist from the Kootenays, known for her rich, expressive tone and smokey Soul Noirstyle – a moody blend of 60s balladry and alt-folk driven by her electric guitar. Drawing inspiration from the musical traditions of her Doukhobor heritage and more than a decade in Canada’s DIY music scene, Orton has built a versatile career as a dynamic vocalist, songwriter, emerging producer, and collaborator.

Her creative reach extends through her original alt-soul five-piece, Penny Shades, whose music has received multiple CBC Radio plays, and through her performances with the nationally acclaimed electro-folk act Moontricks, with whom she has appeared at sold-out venues and major festivals across Western Canada.

As a solo artist, Orton has explored deeper dimensions of her craft, performing at Kaslo Jazz Etc. Festival, Woodstove Festival, Pachena Bay Festival, and Tiny Lights Festival. She has also shared the stage with celebrated artists Ora Cogan, Shaela Miller, and Billie Zizi on their 2024/25 album release tours.
