The Luckies came together in July 2022, when Shari Ulrich suddenly found herself days away from performing at the famed MusicFest in Comox, BC — with her original collaborators unable to attend. Searching for replacements who could match the artistry of two powerful singer-songwriters, she immediately thought of Hilary Grist and Jeanne Tolmie. Both said yes without hesitation.

With only a few hours to rehearse before their MainStage set, the trio delivered a remarkably polished performance, complete with lush three-part harmonies on every song. The energy was electric — exhilarating, exciting, and, above all, fun.

Shari reflects, “Of all the collaborations I’ve had in my life, the ones that lasted were often meant to be a one-off — but felt so good that we wanted to do it again… and again… and again. I’ve always loved playing with other artists and supporting songwriters whose work I admire, while having their support on my own songs. This combination was an unexpected, wonderful surprise — hence the name.”
