Vancouver’s own The Matinee have spent over 15 years on the road, criss-crossing North America and collecting stories that shape their sound. Known for their dynamic, harmony-driven live shows and genre-blending style, the band thrives on movement—both physical and creative.

Recently, the four founding members—vocalist/guitarist Matt Layzell, guitarists Matt Rose and Geoff Petrie, and drummer Peter Lemon—set out on an unstructured road trip through the Pacific Northwest. With no fixed destination and no deadlines, they reconnected not just as bandmates but as lifelong friends. From coastal drives to desert dunes, the journey offered a fresh perspective and sparked a new creative chapter.

Their latest set of songs reflects that spirit of freedom and rediscovery.
