One Year of ShowHub

Jan 25, 2026

Today marks one year since ShowHub went live.

What started as a small, practical attempt to pull scattered live music information into one place has grown into a widely used resource that plays a key role in helping people find local shows across Vancouver and the surrounding areas. Over the past year, ShowHub has become a regular reference point for audiences seeking live music at smaller venues, as well as for presenters looking for artists to book.

By the Numbers

In our first year, ShowHub recorded:

  • 76,000 sessions (visits), with an average session duration of 2 minutes and 58 seconds
  • 217,000 page views
  • 5,514 total shows listed and accessed through the platform
    • 5,023 indoor shows
    • 447 outdoor shows
    • 44 holiday concerts
  • 1,052 artist profiles created
  • 123 year-round venues and 63 outdoor venues added to the directories
  • 45 outdoor and community events highlighted
  • 9 community partnerships formed

Since August, ShowHub has also directed approximately 2,500 visits to individual artist sites and 2,000 visits to venue websites, reinforcing its role as connective infrastructure rather than a closed ecosystem.

These numbers reflect real use by real people. ShowHub is not driven by bots, scraped listings, or ticketing feeds. Most of the data on the platform is gathered manually from venues, presenters, artists, posters, and newsletters that are not indexed elsewhere. That labour is largely invisible, but it is what allows smaller shows and community events to be discovered alongside larger listings.

Equally important is what ShowHub does not require. There is no login, no ads, and no paywall to browse events. Accessibility has been built into the platform from the beginning rather than added later. The goal has always been simple: make live music easier to find, especially for shows that tend to fall through the cracks.

Partners & Support

Over the past year, we have worked with non-profit community partners to help amplify events with limited promotional budgets. Those relationships have helped shape the direction of the platform and reinforced the need for shared, public cultural infrastructure.

ShowHub now offers two partnership options – one for non-profit organizations and one for for-profit presenters – which can operate independently or in conjunction with featured show promotion packages. More information about partnerships and featured show promotion is available.

If you find the site useful and would like to help with our efforts, we have created a page outlining the various ways to support or contribute to ShowHub’s work.

We would also like to thank Creative BC, along with the individuals who have supported ShowHub through direct contributions. This funding is critical, allowing us to cover the platform’s required non-labour costs and invest in the promotion needed to ensure people can find and use the resource.

Thank you as well to the artists, venues, presenters, partners, and regular users who have engaged with and used ShowHub over the past year. The scale of usage underscores the need for this kind of public cultural infrastructure.

We look forward to continuing to build, refine, and expand the platform in the year ahead.

Thank you for supporting local live music!
