Hip Pocket bandleader and multi-instrumentalist Adam Rohrlick is a full-time musician based in Vancouver. Adam studied music at and graduated from Grant MacEwan University in Edmonton, and from G.I.T., the Guitar Institute of Technology in Los Angeles. In addition to live performance, Adam is also a studio musician, producer and songwriter. 

Hip Pocket has performed five times at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, at the Maple Ridge Jazz & Blues Festival, the Visa Whistler Jazz & Blues Festival and the Burnaby Blues + Roots Festival. The group has also performed at Cory Weeds’ Cellar Jazz Club and at Frankie’s Jazz Club celebrating the music of the Pat Metheny Group as well as a tribute to guitarist Grant Green and at Guilt & Co. performing the music of David Sanborn featuring vocalists Dawn Pemberton and Mike Henry.

Hip Pocket has performed on the main stage at the Vancouver Marathon, for the opening of the Canada Line Skytrain and at the Grand Opening of the Ferarri Maserati Vancouver dealership.

Hip Pocket has had a weekly residence since 2016 performing at Provence Marinaside restaurant in Yaletown which continues every Wednesday evening.

Hip Pocket was featured in a performance and interview on CBC Radio One’s Hot Air jazz show. Hip Pocket also performed live on CBC Radio One for their annual Food Bank fundraiser.

As a sideman, Adam has performed with Michael Buble’, Colin James, Mike Reno of Loverboy, Michael Kaeshammer, and he was musical director and guitarist for Siobhan Walsh’s tribute to Aretha Franklin. He’s performed at Rogers Arena during a Canucks game, at B.C. Place during a B.C. Lions game and was a member of the house band that performed at B.C. Place for a medal awards ceremony during the 2010 Winter Olympics. He’s also played guitar with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (VSO), and The Arts Club Theatre. Adam has performed five seasons of concerts with Vancovuer Men’s Chorus and has performed bi-annual concerts with City Soul Choir and Island Soul Choir for over 15 years. Adam regularly performs with Tom Arntzen, Amanda Wood, Diane Lines, Gary Comeau and the Sounds of New Orleans, Organ.ic Chemistry Organ Quartet, The Weaver/Werth Band and Moondance: The Van Morrison Songbook.
