Artist Website

Adam Robert Thomas is a JUNO-nominated vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and composer based in Vancouver, Canada. His music career spans jazz, soul, R&B, and beyond — blending technical skill with emotional depth and a compelling stage presence.

Music was a constant in Adam’s childhood home. Influenced early by artists like John Denver, Gordon Lightfoot, and Chuck Mangione, he began formal music training at age eight on trumpet. At twelve, he started electric bass under the mentorship of Rick Stoen, later adding upright bass to his repertoire at eighteen.

Encouraged by mentors such as Kate Hammett-Vaughan, Adam began performing as a vocalist. His studies at the University of North Texas (UNT) exposed him to some of jazz’s greatest players, including John Abercrombie, Michael Brecker, Kenny Wheeler, Eddie Gomez, and many more — experiences that shaped his approach to both performance and composition.

Now an established figure in Vancouver’s music scene, Adam has performed with a wide array of acclaimed artists, including Laila Biali, Jill Barber, Brad Turner, Bill Coon, and Joey DeFrancesco. His long-standing collaborations with musicians like Jillian Lebeck, Mike Allen, and Dan Brubeck have led to celebrated recordings and memorable live performances.

In 2016, Adam earned two JUNO nominations: Vocal Jazz Album of the Year with The Dan Brubeck Quartet and Children’s Album of the Year for his work with Ginalina. Since 2013, he has focused more deeply on solo performance, pairing expressive vocals with soulful guitar playing. His 2018 self-titled debut album as a singer-songwriter reached #11 on the U.S. R&B charts and showcases his talents as a songwriter, arranger, and frontman.

Adam Robert Thomas continues to perform and record across genres, bringing a depth of experience and a signature style that connects with audiences across Canada and beyond.
