Alex Jay Ritchie is a self-taught guitarist and vocalist with over 25 years of experience. Originally trained in classical piano through the Royal Conservatory in Ontario from the age of six, he discovered his passion for guitar after moving to B.C. at 15. Despite being encouraged to continue piano, he immersed himself in guitar on his own — learning through instructional videos, theory books, and intense ear training. His journey from classical piano to electric and acoustic guitar reflects both discipline and a deep personal connection to the instrument.

Alex draws inspiration from a wide range of genres and artists, from rock icons like Edward Van Halen, Nuno Bettencourt, and Jimmy Page to classical and Latin masters such as Paco de Lucía and Strunz & Farah. His performances include classic rock covers from the late ’60s to the 2000s, along with an expanding catalogue of original, improvised songs influenced by blues, rock, Irish, and folk traditions. Whether performing solo with a digital looper and beatbox-style rhythms or with a full band, Alex brings energy, versatility, and a love for all things guitar.
