Emma is a solo musician from Victoria, BC, currently based in Vancouver. She supports her vocals with acoustic guitar, which she learned to play by way of her French father’s informal teachings. “My dad got me my first guitar when I was seven. Right away, I wrote songs about love, heartbreak, grief — topics insanely deep for a kid to write about. I used to bring my guitar to school and play it at recess. One day, a teacher asked me to play for her classroom, so I did. Suddenly, a bunch of seven-year old kids were lining up for my autograph, as a seven-year-old myself.”

Boasting a multilingual setlist in English, French and Spanish, her genre ranges from pop to folk, r&b, and bossa-nova in the form of both covers and original songs. While loyal to her own tone, Emma finds challenge and inspiration in adapting to the nuance of each genre she sings. Emma writes from her own perspective as a young woman, grounded in the ubiquity of what brings us together, and bringing transparent wit to her tales of relationships gone wrong.
