While many Canadian reggae acts fight for recognition at home, Generous Thieves found an unlikely path abroad, quickly becoming a fan favourite when touring in Japan. Their approachability and willingness to personally engage with fans have helped them build a loyal international following, even as they remain under-the-radar in Canada.

Originally formed in Vancouver, they have built a strong and growing fanbase in Japan, where they’ve successfully toured twice. Their work continues to gain momentum overseas, selling out shows in Osaka, Kobe, and Kyoto, securing radio play in Tokyo, and being featured on local television in Fukuoka.

Generous Thieves now seeks to expand its fanbase to new territories, hoping to replicate its success in more Asian countries, as well as back home in Canada. The band’s distinct reggae fusion sound positions them for success in unlikely places, while remaining steadfast representatives of Canada’s vibrant independent music scene.
