Kentish Steele and the Shantelles

Kentish Steele is a Jamaican-born soul and R&B vocalist and a long-time mainstay of Vancouver’s live music scene. He is best known for fronting his backing group, The Shantelles (sometimes billed as The Kentish Steele Band), performing energetic renditions of classic soul covers by legends like James Brown, Otis Redding, and Wilson Pickett.

Emerging in Vancouver’s vibrant 1960s and 1970s club and R&B circuit, Kentish Steele and The Shantelles performed at historic local venues like Oil Can Harry’s, the Groove Yard, and the Town Pump.

Kentish remains active in the Metro Vancouver area performing classic soul revues and afternoon dance parties at local pubs and neighborhood venues with his smooth, high-energy rhythm and blues, soul, and rock-and-roll vocal performances.
