Melanie Dekker (aka Mela) is a Canadian roots-pop sensation with a voice like chocolate—rich, smooth, and unforgettable. Her music blends raw emotion with a tender and somewhat wild way of storytelling; each one rhythmically tugging at your heartstrings while leaving you with a smile. 

Dekker’s influences include Canadian Joni Mitchell, Nelly Furtado, Gordon Lightfoot, Blue Rodeo & Niel Young, and she interlaces distinct versions of songs from these artists in her program. “I like to surprise the audience while challenging myself. I draw from my musical mentors and meanwhile my songs are nostalgic with an optimistic punch”, says the guitarist & songwriter who’s had a hit song on Canadian radio BDS charts called “I Said I’. A song that pokes a little fun at being wiser when looking back.
