MidMay
MidMay is redefining in Vancouver’s Alternative R&B landscape with their genre-blending sound. The duo, composed of longtime collaborators Tom Shand and Jacob Regehr, has spent over 15 years creating music together before officially forming MidMay.
The name MidMay comes from their birthdays—Jacob was supposed to be born just a day before Tom but arrived six weeks early, an unexpected twist that mirrors their natural chemistry. Both sing, layering their voices into a rich blend of R&B, pop, soul, and jazz.
Influenced by artists like The Beatles, Radiohead, Hall & Oates, Donny Hathaway, and Carole King, MidMay blends classic inspiration with fresh songwriting. Their singles “Bordeaux” and “Keefer Street” have already surpassed 350,000 streams on Spotify, and they’re poised for greater success with “Dreams,” the lead single from their debut EP, Sounds in Stays, dropping December 20, 2024.
As Vancouver’s music scene experiences a post-pandemic revival, MidMay is at the forefront, delivering immersive, transformative sounds that demand attention.
