The Steve Sainas Trio (SST) is a powerhouse rock band known for their high-energy performances and seamless musical chemistry. Formed by seasoned musicians Steve Sainas, Brad Shigeru Uchida, and Terry Tokiwa, SST delivers dynamic tributes to classic rock legends, anchored by decades of professional experience. Steve previously led blues-rock band Mud Dog for nearly 20 years, earning accolades including a nomination for Best Blues Album at the 2008 Western Canadian Music Awards and a performance slot at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis. Following his acclaimed solo release Simple As This, Steve formed SST, bringing together top-tier talent with Brad Uchida, whose career spans from classic rock and jazz ensembles to international cruise contracts and a long-standing role in Canada’s leading Tragically Hip tribute band, The Hip Show.

In 2022, Brad and Steve welcomed drummer-vocalist Nick James, whose departure in 2024 led to the addition of veteran drummer and singer Terry Tokiwa. Terry’s rich musical background includes original projects, extensive cover band work, and tribute acts spanning Kiss, AC/DC, and Alice Cooper. His commanding vocals and precision drumming add both depth and versatility to SST’s sound. Together, Steve, Brad, and Terry form a tight-knit trio of “band brothers” whose soaring harmonies and undeniable stage presence make each performance an electrifying celebration of classic rock and blues.
