Ted Kim
Ted Kim is a singer-songwriter and recording artist based in Chilliwack, British Columbia. A self-taught multi-instrumentalist, Ted plays guitar, drums, bass, piano, synths, and trumpet. Alongside his solo work, he is the drummer for Chilliwack punk/ska/alternative band Like Bears and lead guitarist for alt-punk outfit Gord.
During the pandemic, with live performances on hold, Ted expanded his musical repertoire to include recording and producing. His earlier work, released under the alias Dear Father, includes two records — 100 Years (2017) and Away from Home (2021), the latter a FACTOR-funded project. Performing coast to coast, his introspective and melancholic sound earned him five Fraser Valley Music Award nominations.
Ted’s musical influences include 1990s and early 2000s folk and alternative rock artists such as City and Colour and Radiohead. In early 2024, he released a series of singles leading up to his debut album under his own name, Another Way(August 2024). The album received national campus and community radio play and earned him a Folk Artist of the Year nomination at the Fraser Valley Music Awards. It was written, recorded, mixed, and mastered entirely in his home studio in Chilliwack.
