Tim Sars
Tim Sars is a Vancouver-based saxophonist, composer, and educator with a passion for community-driven music. Primarily a baritone saxophonist, he also plays alto and tenor sax, flute, and piano, bringing a rich and dynamic approach to his craft.
Raised in a highly musical household—both of his parents being saxophonists—Tim was immersed in a creative environment from an early age. He continues this tradition by making music with his brother, Nathan Barrett (trumpet), and engaging with the broader community through collaborative projects. His ability to connect people from all walks of life through music is at the heart of his work.
Tim is an active member of Vancouver’s vibrant music scene and performs with a diverse range of ensembles, including the Carnival Band (a community-driven activist brass band), the Greenhorn Community Music Project (a youth brass band), the Sweetpea Swing Band, Tiny Islands (a group specializing in school performances), Camaro 67 (a funk/Afrobeat band), and The Tim Sars Band, which showcases his original jazz-inspired compositions.
With a deep commitment to both performance and musical outreach, Tim continues to build connections and inspire audiences through his engaging and dynamic approach to music.
