Creative BC’s Music Industry Initiatives to Support ShowHub for a Second Year

May 11, 2026

We’re thrilled to announce that ShowHub Promotions Inc. has been approved for $40,000 in additional funding from Creative BC’s Music Industry Initiatives program this year. This doubles last year’s investment and shows strong confidence in the platform’s continued growth and impact. We are deeply honoured by and grateful for this continued support.

This funding will directly support efforts to amplify local artists, small venues, festivals, and partner organizations throughout Vancouver and surrounding communities. It will help support:

  • Editorial content and educational articles
  • Promotional campaigns to help local artists and events reach larger audiences
  • Expanded visibility through on-site presence at shows and festivals
  • A transit campaign during the busy summer concert season
  • Accessibility research and platform improvements
  • Development of an interactive live music map
  • Expanded outreach to artists and venues
  • Continued partnership and community development

This support is incredibly meaningful, allowing us to support the community in many ways we would not have been able to otherwise – making ShowHub an even more valuable and comprehensive community resource. It also helps us prepare for future expansion into the rest of Greater Vancouver and beyond.

That said, grants like this only cover specific eligible project expenses. Much of the behind-the-scenes operational work required to keep ShowHub running – including day-to-day data sourcing and entry, insurance, accounting and legal fees, hosting infrastructure, software services, trademarking, some outreach costs, and ongoing development time – still relies heavily on our own donated labour, community support, and significant reinvestment back into the project.

This funding helps us continue building and expanding the platform’s reach responsibly while reducing some of that pressure.

We want to sincerely thank Creative BC, the Government of British Columbia, and especially Joseph Bardsley and Leslie Ken Chu with Music Industry Initiatives, for believing in what we are building – along with the many artists, venues, presenters, organizations, and community members who continue to support and collaborate with us.

There is still a tremendous amount of work ahead, but this support helps us continue building something we sincerely believe is making a difference for our local live music community.
