Supporting ShowHub’s Free Service through Expanded-Scope Listing Fees

Since launching, ShowHub has focused on making it easier for audiences to discover live music while supporting local artists, small-to-medium-sized venues, small, local festivals, and community music events across Vancouver and the surrounding areas.

Today, the platform maintains hundreds of active event listings and artist profiles, with approximately 140 shows listed each week throughout the year and over 200 per week during the busy summer season. 

What’s Evolving

As the platform has grown, we have received increasing requests for both ticketed events and events outside our primary scope of coverage. While we are pleased to help promote these events, they often require significantly more time and resources than the community-focused listings that form the core of the platform.

Effective June 1, 2026, ShowHub is introducing a $20 fee for ticketed event listings, as well as for events that fall outside ShowHub’s primary scope of coverage.

The fee will help offset the additional labour involved while also supporting the long-term sustainability of the platform. It allows us to continue focusing on the local artists, small venues, and community events that have always been at the heart of ShowHub, while creating a sustainable way to accommodate these expanded-scope requests.

What’s Staying The Same

Listings of shows that fall within ShowHub’s scope of coverage will continue to be offered free of charge. This means events that meet (all of) the following criteria:

• Professional performances where artists are paid for their work
• Three or fewer acts, unless part of a festival or special event
• Genres such as blues, folk, country, rock, Latin, funk, soul, pop, singer-songwriters, and some jazz
• Events taking place in Vancouver, Burnaby, and the North Shore through to Squamish. ShowHub may occasionally include venues or events outside the core area where they are connected to existing partners, artists, or special projects.

Our community partnership program continues unchanged for aligned non-profit organizations presenting high-quality music series and supporting local artistic talent. Existing community partnership arrangements are not affected by this change.

For presenters and promoters managing multiple ticketed events, ShowHub also continues to offer its Supportive Partnership Program, which provides enhanced visibility, promotion, and additional support while helping sustain the platform’s ongoing growth and development.

As ShowHub continues to grow, we remain committed to accessibility, discoverability, and supporting the local live music community through free public event listings and artist promotion.
